The East Broad Top Railroad : July 8, 2007 - Today, we took a trip to The East Broad Top Railroad in Orbisonia. It started in 1856 and ran until 1956 carrying coal, ore, lumber, and passengers. Sadly, 100 years of steam engine travel was replaced by trucking.

If you get a chance, you should visit East Broad Top. It is a real trip into the past to ride on passenger cars pulled by a steam engine. They have authentic passenger cars from a Boston railroad that ran in the mid to late 1800's.

E.B.T. is one of the dying few steam engine experiences, and when it's gone, our country will really lose a piece of it's history.

Peale : A Pennsylvania Ghost Town : I grew up in Morrisdale, PA directly behind the West Branch High School football field. Until a few years ago, I never knew that I lived a few miles from the fascinating ghost town of Peale. I am addicted to history...so I was enthralled to hear about this whole story. There is a great web-site: http://go.owu.edu/~jbkrygie/krygier_html/peale/peale.html that taught me everything I know about Peale. If you know about Peale, but haven't visited this site yet, it would be well worth your time.

I went to Peale with my wife, brother, and his boy today. Unfortunately, I couldn't find even the most obvious of Peale locations such as the Peale Tunnel or the cemetary with one remaining headstone. If anyone happens upon my pictures, maybe you can tell me what I've photographed? I would love any information...even as little as a quick e-mail of how to get to the tunnel. My address is: d_mccamley@comcast.net and I'd love to hear from you.

Philipsburg : My Hometown : This gallery will be a work in progress. I'm trying to give a photographic tour of the town where I live, Philipsburg, Pennsylvania. I'll be posting pictures over the next few months. Philipsburg is a great town that's almost as old as America itself!
