Pirates Defeat Atlanta : May 10, 2008 - Michele and I went to see the Pirates vs. Braves at PNC on Saturday. Jason Bay hit a 2 run HR and Tom Gorzelany pitched at great game...Pirates win 5-2. We ate at Atria's before the game and Michele bought me a New York Strip Steak, baked potato, house salad, and two Yuenglings. A perfect trip? Pretty close...pretty close.

Pirates Lose to Arizona : Michele and I went to see the Pirates and the Diamondbacks. I took a few warmup photos that turned out pretty nice. Also, a group of Penguins were at the game and I got a few nice photos of Jordan Staal. We sit about 10 rows from third base and about 15-20 yards down the line...so you generally see the third baseman's back. These seats are great for watching, but just a little to far for really sharp game photos.

Pirates vs. Giants - August 13 : We saw the Pirates and Giants in a double header today. The Pirates won the first game, but lost the second. I had mixed feeling about seeing Barry Bonds. I saw him play many times as a Pirate, and for years he was my favorite Pirate. I also think he is a symbol of all that's wrong in the last 15 years of baseball. He doesn't even look like the old player I used to root for.

I clapped when Bonds tipped his hat to the crowd after they played his career highlight video. It's hard to forget his seven years as a Pirate, that meant a lot to me growing up. The last year Barry was a Pirate, we won the 1992 National League East and were one out from the World Series. It has been 14 losing seasons since then. I miss the old days when I was a kid and had pride in the Pirates...now I've lost all faith in Bonds and the Pirates are pressing their luck, too!

Ian Snell In Motion : I was bored yesterday, so I took 4 pictures of Ian Snell and made an action series. I did it really quickly and I'm going to try to do it better soon. The last Ian needs to be the top layer of the image. Also, his feet need to be lined up better.

The last thing that would make it better is for the middle two images to be "ghost" images, but I'm still playing around with how to do that. I still thought it was an o.k. effort for a quick job by a beginner, so here it is.

Have you done any series yet, Paul? I bet some photos of a bird flying would make a pretty nice series...we need to go take some bird pictures now that we both have telephoto lenses. Those couple you posted on your site are nice.

If anyone with experience making sequences happens to see this, I would love ideas of how to improve, because I'm a real novice. Especially how to make the middle images opaque without the background going opaque as well.

PNC Park Photos and Pirates vs. Reds : The Pirates lost to the Reds on Friday and Saturday night. The silver lining for me is that when I was 12 years old, Ken Griffey Jr. was one of my favorite players. I got to see him hit a homerun and make several nice plays in the field. We still had a good time and I took some pictures to post from the two games.

Pirates Beat Cards! 8-2-07 : The Pirates won 5-4 today in extra innings. I always enjoy seeing the St. Louis Cardinals, too. Albert Pujols is a beast. He had a homerun today and a foul homerun that was in the upper deck. I'm already excited to see the game tomorrow...Ken Griffey Jr. and the Cincinnati Reds will be in town.
